Neamt police have released a video footage revealing the moments when a criminal group mounted a bomb aimed at killing Bogdan Mararu. Six suspects have been arrested and taken to police headqurter (DIICOT) for interrogations. They are charged with attempt of assassination of underworld local interloper Bogdan Mararu. Law enforcement found a device containing one kilogram of explosives, probably C4, attached under Mararu’s car.

Residents who were evacuated from the dangerous area, could later return to their homes, as all restrictions were lifted Friday afternoon, nearly 12 hours after the area was sealed down, informs Romanian media agency Mediafax.

Prefect of Neamt Ilie Mitea said that after the explosive device was defused, restrictions in the area were lifted so that people can go back safely to their homes.

Authorities began proceedings to resume natural gas supply, which was cut off throughout the alert. Romanian Service of Information (SRI) spokesman Sorin Sava revealed that the C4 explosives had been attached under the Range Rover and could explode upon car’s ignition.

Explosives found on Bogdan Mararu’s car are equivalent to 5.5 kilograms of trinitrotoluene (TNT) and a possible blast would have spanned over a ​​350 meter radius, judicial source said.

On Friday, DIICOT prosecutors of Neamt Territorial Office along with officers of the judicial police BCCO Bacau and SCCO Neamt, caught three young members of a group specialized in violent offenses – murder, aggravated destruction and terrorism acts. The suspects were coordinated by group’s 43-year-old leader, and aimed at placing an explosive device on a car “to suppress the life of the victim (Bogdan Mararu), the owner of the car”.
