Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad unveiled on Saturday a new type of warplane introduced as “one of the most advanced in the world”, during a ceremony marking 34 years since the 1979 Islamic Revolution (scroll down for video).

This stealth plane with futuristic shapes and presented as “Qaher-F313” (Dominant F313 or Conqueror F313) was “designed and built by Iranian engineers” and “is among the toughest fighter jets in the world,” said Ahmadinejad, quoted by Iranian media.

Iranian president added that the plane has already made “thousands of hours of flight” and pilots are “very pleased with its performance.”

Qaher F-313 which was shown on television as it lay in a hangar, has a “very low radar signature, is built of modern materials and comes with an advanced avionics equipment,” according to Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi.

The plane is able to land on short runways and “can be repaired quickly and easily,” said the minister, adding that it was intended also to “meet the needs of the Iranian air force when at war.”
