Antena 3 Romania and Flags Factory fully stretched world’s largest flag for Guinnes Book record

About 200 volunteers worked alongside representatives of the Flags Factory in efforts to make a successful deployment of Romania’s largest flag at Aerodrome Clinceni on Monday. The initiative aims at booking a place in the Guinness Book of World Records and comes 413 years after country’s first great union that occurred on May 27, 1600 (scroll down for images).

The giant flag is 330 meter long, 220 meter wide and weighs 5 tons, therefore about seven hectares were blanketed with the national tricolor.

For the first time in Romania, a TV studio was installed at a height of 50 meters on the “Dinner in the Sky” platform. Sabina Iosub and Niels Schnecker, along with their invited guests liked journalist Dana Grecu and Ovidiu Barbier analyzed and presented the latest developments emerging along the airfield runway.

Dozens celebrities from Romanian media, politics, music or sport gathered at Clinceni to witness the celebratory event that is officially set to kick off at 5 p.m. local time (2 p.m. GMT)

Former Olympic and world champion Elisabeta Lipa was invited by Antena 3 to comment the ceremony.
