“I’m here today because I am gay. And because, perhaps I can make a difference,” said Ellen Page in front of scores of people gathered at the Time to THRIVE event known usually as a conference to promote issues of the gay community.

The Hollywood actress who is set to play a role in an upcoming X-Men movie, was welcomed with frenetic applause during her revealings on Valentine’s Day.

“I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission,” Page told the audience. “I suffered for years, because I was scared to be out.” “We deserve to experience love fully, equally, without shame and without compromise,” added Page in the public disclosure about her sexual orientation.
