UKRAINE COUP: Ukrainian protesters announced Saturday morning that took control of the presidential administration office in Kiev. Parliament voted Saturday the dismissal of President Viktor Yanukovych and announced early presidential elections on May 25, 2014.

Lawmakers have said the president is incapable to fulfill his constitutional duties. After the vote, some of them stood up, cheered and sang the national anthem.

In a televised speech on the state broadcaster ICTV on Saturday, President Viktor Yanukovych said that he “has no intention to resign”. “The country is witnessing a coup d’etat. I do not intend to resign. I am a legitimately elected president and won’t leave the country,” added Yanukovych.

UKRAINE UPDATE: The resolution concerning the prison release of former Ukrainian prime minister and opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko has apparently been retracted, reports Sky News.

Initial information which claimed that Tymoshenko will be set free from jail were clarified by her spokeswoman Natasha Lisova who said that the parliamentary decision stipulates that she must be released immediately.

UKRAINE RIOTS UPDATE: Protesters announced Saturday morning that they took control of the presidential administration office in Kiev. The riot police guarding the headquarters was nowhere to be seen at the scene.

Demonstrators said they will not storm Presidency, but only want to guard the premises. Dozens opposition protesters arrived at the parliament building, some being brought in military vehicles.

President Viktor Yanukovych ran away from Kiev, said one of the opposition Vitali Klitschko in front of MPs in Parliament. “He [Yanukovich] left the capital,” said Klitschko.
