Romanian thieves get reduced definitive sentences from Bucharest court in Kunstal paintings heist case
Thursday: Feb. 27, 2014: Magistrates at Bucharest’s Court of Appeal (CAB) sentenced Radu Dogaru to 6 years in prison and Eugen Darie to 5 years and 4 months imprisonment in a judicial case related to the massive theft of paintings from the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Court’s decision is final. The paintings were about 20 million euros worth.
On November 26, 2013, the court of Bucharest’s 3rd District had initially sentenced both Dogaru and Darie to six years and eight months in jail but the defendants appealed the decision.
