VIDEO: Renato Usatii detained by SIS officers after landing at Moldova’s Chisinau airport

“Our Party” leader, Renato Usatii, was detained by officers of the Internal Security Intelligence Service SIS on Friday at the airport of Chisinau (SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO).

Usatii had just returned home from a trip to Moscow and was picked by the law enforcement officers as he left the VIP terminal.

The officers showed him a detention warrant which stated “forcefully taking a person to the Prosecutor office”. The mayor of the city of Balti did not resist the seizure, but a group of his supporters tried to block the vehicle which carried him.

“Unbelievable. An entire subdivision of SIS officers to come and take him forcefully? I have just document which stipulates that he has to be brought in front of the prosecution but such a warrant could have been handed over by a single police officer and not an army of people. They should have sent a a policeman instead of acting this way,” said lawyer Ana Ursachi.

Asked if Usatii was detained in relation to the phone interceptions he posted online earlier this week, the lawyer said that’s most likely the case.
