Romania’s Ovidiu Anton to sing “Moment of Silence” at Eurovision 2016 in Sweden

Ovidiu Anton’s “Moment of Silence” is the winning song to represent Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 that will take place at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden.

The national selection final which was held on Sunday (March 6th) at the Sports Hall in Baia Mare, gathered numerous music performers including Mihai Trăistariu, Florena, Dream Walkers, Doru Todorut feat. Irina Baianţ or Vanotek feat. The Code & Georgiana.

This year, the public vote had the decisive weight in choosing the best song and Ovidiu Anton claimed the title with 6585 votes. The trophy, which embodies the goddess of beauty Isis, was handed over to the winner by the Mayor of Baia Mare, Catalin Cherecheş.

After the televoting results were announced, Ovidiu Anton expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him. “I would like to thank all of you, the public who voted for me and the rock community in Romania (…)”.

The 33-year-old musician paid also tribute to the late television producer Titus Munteanu. “Titus Munteanu taught me that the greatest sign of superiority is kindness”, Anton was quoted as saying.
